Peace on Earth (Advent 2)

(12/8/25)

Begin With Silence

Take 30 seconds to just pause. Be still. Ask God to open your heart to hear His voice.

Psalm 46:10 (ESV) “Be still, and know that I am God...

1. Wow!

Spend time praising God for who He is... His power, love, creation, and character!

Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV) For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

  • You speak "Peace" into storms and they listen.
  • Your peace isn't fragile; it's fierce.
  • You calm the world by entering
  • Your presence still stills souls.

2. I'm Sorry!

Be honest with God about your sins and shortcomings. Ask for forgiveness and strength to live a life that honors Him.

Philippians 4:6–7 (GNB) Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus.

  • Forgive me for fueling anxiety instead of faith.
  • I confess I've stirred more conflict than calm.
  • I've sought peace through control.
  • Teach me still born of trust.

3. Thank You!

Think about specific things that you are grateful for, big and small. This could include family, friends, your health, or even the air that you breathe.

John 14:27 (NIV84) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

  • Thank You for peace that the world can't explain.
  • Thank you that calm doesn't depend on circumstance.
  • You whisper peace in my panic.
  • Every breath of trust is a thank-you.

4. Save Them!

Continually entrust the needs of others, and especially their need of salvation, to God. Wait with faith, not frustration, knowing He’s at work even when you can’t see it.

Romans 12:18 (CSB) If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

  • Let Your peace rule where fear once ruled.
  • Bring reconciliation where anger reigns.
  • Still nations bent on violence.
  • Give peace to anxious hearts and divided churches.

5. Deliver Me!

Entrust your needs and pain to God. Ask Him to meet you in your weakness, and remind you that He is enough.

Colossians 3:15 (NLT) And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

  • Deliver me from the addiction to control.
  • Rescue me from words that wound.
  • Free me from worry that crowds out worship.
  • Let Your peace referee my heart.
  • Make me a peacemaker like You.

Close With Silence

Use the final minute to be quiet, to listen and reflect on your prayer time and what God may be communicating to you. Then close with...

The Lord’s Prayer

(Pray the words that Jesus taught us to pray)

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name;

your kingdom come;

your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Amen.
