THe promise of a new year

(12/29/25)

Begin With Silence

Take 30 seconds to just pause. Be still. Ask God to open your heart to hear His voice.

Psalm 46:10 (ESV) “Be still, and know that I am God...

1. Wow!

Spend time praising God for who He is... His power, love, creation, and character!

Revelation 21:5 (ESV) And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”

  • You write fresh starts with eternal ink.
  • You don't recycle the past - You redeem it.
  • Every sunrise declares You're not finished.
  • You are the Author of new beginnings.

2. I'm Sorry!

Be honest with God about your sins and shortcomings. Ask for forgiveness and strength to live a life that honors Him.

Lamentations 3:22–23 (NASB95) The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

  • Forgive me for carrying last year's failures into this one.
  • I've tried to fix myself instead of letting You renew me.
  • I confess resolutions without repentance.
  • Teach me to release what no longer serves Your story.

3. Thank You!

Think about specific things that you are grateful for, big and small. This could include family, friends, your health, or even the air that you breathe.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV84) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

  • Thank You for making all things new - include me.
  • You've never tired of giving second chances.
  • Thank You for lessons wrapped in last year's pain.
  • Your mercy reset the clock at midnight.
  • I'm grateful that beginnings start with grace, not performance.

4. Save Them!

Continually entrust the needs of others, and especially their need of salvation, to God. Wait with faith, not frustration, knowing He’s at work even when you can’t see it.

Psalm 90:12 (NLT) Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.

  • Teach them to number their days wisely.
  • Draw wandering hearts into a fresh start with You.
  • Let this new year awaken new faith.
  • Bring prodigals home while the door's still open.

5. Deliver Me!

Entrust your needs and pain to God. Ask Him to meet you in your weakness, and remind you that He is enough.

Isaiah 43:18–19 (GW) Forget what happened in the past,  and do not dwell on events from long ago.  19 I am going to do something new.  It is already happening. Don’t you recognize it?  I will clear a way in the desert.  I will make rivers on dry land.

  • Deliver me from living in the past.
  • Rescue me from fear of the unknown.
  • Free me from cycles You've already broken.
  • Make this year less about goals and more about grace.

Close With Silence

Use the final minute to be quiet, to listen and reflect on your prayer time and what God may be communicating to you. Then close with...

The Lord’s Prayer

(Pray the words that Jesus taught us to pray)

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name;

your kingdom come;

your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Amen.
